April 2026: Tasting with Lou

Amparo Micaela Moncayo de Botina’s name has been burned into our memories ever since we first tasted her Caturra a couple years back. In fact, Caturra is the only variety she has produced in the 40 years she has farmed her land at El Encinal… you might say she’s an expert. 

We’ve wanted to include coffee from Nariño in the subscription ever since our first visit to Colombia. This special region, with its sky-high altitude and volcanic soils, yields coffees with lively acidity and fruit-like sweetness. Joining Carolyne for a taste is one of our beloved Baristas… Lou!
